In 3 minutes, the Surphaser can scan both sides of a door generating a grid of 500,000 data points, each accurate to 0.005"! Software converts data into color maps of topography and calculates various measures of distortion from the scan data. This technique is used to measure distortion caused by environmental stresses -- moisture in wood-based interior doors and heat in fiberglass or steel exterior doors.
